The Rylan Sergeant is one of the many Rylan officers who greets Alex when he arrives on Rylos. He instructs him to join the other starfighter recruits.
When the incoming meteors are detected coming toward Starfighter Command, he informs the station over intercom and orders the Automatic Repulsor Guns to be fired. He is then told by his subordinates that the guns have failed. The reason behind the failure, which the Rylan Sergeant likely failed to realize, is that a Xurian spy destroyed the guidance computer in an act of sabotage. He is last seen looking in horror as a meteor heads straight for Starfighter base, which then explodes on impact, killing him, many Rylan soldiers, as well as eliminating virtually the entire Starfighter squadron.
